Progressive Woman-Owned CPA Firm Seeking a Self-Starter to Join Our Growing Team!

Job Description

Our firm is steadily growing and transitioning to a modern, remote-first practice with no unnecessary busy season hours and a paperless workflow. We’re seeking an experienced senior accountant or team lead who specializes in tax and client-facing work to join us and grow with the firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual and business tax returns
  • Update and prepare tax estimates as needed
  • Onboard new clients (individuals and businesses)
  • Stay current with tax education (firm-supported)
  • Identify tax planning opportunities for clients
  • Follow established company systems and procedures
  • Assist with other filings, including sales tax, 1099s, and business property returns
  • Commit to and align with company values
  • Participate in virtual calls with the camera on
  •  

Bonus Responsibilities

  • Help clean up and organize messy client books (with support) in preparation for tax returns
  • Perform monthly bookkeeping tasks and run production reports
  • Assist with payroll processing (via third-party processors)
  •  

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience preparing individual and business tax returns
  • Bonus: Experience with Drake, TaxDome, QBO, or Xero
  • Strong tech-savviness and reliable, high-speed internet
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online (or similar systems)
  • CPA, EA, or willingness to obtain CTEC certification (firm-paid)

Additional Information

Currently, the role includes handling bookkeeping for a handful of monthly and annual business clients. We can provide training if necessary. As the role evolves, you’ll transition from doing the books to reviewing them once a full-time bookkeeper is onboarded in two years.

Working Hours

We have a very competitive number of work hours that are sought after by most freelancers and independent contractors. A full-time position requires you to work 40 to 50 hours per week. As a result, your income will be more consistent and reliable.
